Tamarind Rice
A tangy rice dish made with channa and urad dals, infused with the flavor of tamarind pulp. Tamarind rice is actually a north Indian version of Pulihora or Puliyodharayi, where the term 'Puli' means something sour. Tamarind here is the sour ingredient. This is a perfect meal to cook when you want something light, easy and quick.

Ingredients
For making masala powder
- 2 dry red chilli
- 1 spoon udad dal
- 1 spoon chana dal
- 1 spoon till / seesame seed
For making rice
- 1 bowl coocked rice
- 1 spoon oil
- 1/2 tbsp small; mustard seeds
- 1/2 spoon Udad dal
- 1/2 spoon chana dal
- 1 dry red chili
- 2 spoon masala powder
- 1/2 cup tamarind water
- pinch of turmeric powder
- 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp salt(as per your taste)
- 1/2 cup fried peanuts
Instructions
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds, red chilli , hing & dals.Saute them on low flame till dal changes its color
- Now add masala powder & mix everything
- Add tamarind water , turmeric & red chilli powder.
- Mix them & once the paste gets thickened add rice & salt.Mix & it's done!
- Serve it with some fried peanuts
