What is Garam Masala?

Main ingredients for Garam Masala: 400gm serving
- 1.5 cup Coriander seeds
- 1 cup Jeera / Cumin Seeds
- 4 tbsp black pepper / Kali Mirch
- 6-7 dried Red chilli / Lal Mirch
- 10 star anise / Badiya
- 5-6 inch Cinnamon / Dalchini
- 4-5 Mace / Javitri
- 10 Black Cardamom / Badi Ilaichi
- 3-4 Nutmeg / Jaifal
- 6 tsp Cardamom / Ilaichi
- 2 tbsp Clove / Laung
- 4 tsp Fennel Seed / Saunf
- 10-12 Bay leaves / Tej Patte
Roast individual spice on a slow flame until they become aromatic and slightly dark in color.
Please note: Do not roast them all at once, by doing some spices may burn and lose their aroma.
After roasting, mix all in one grinder and grind it and store it in an airtight container for using all round the year.
